With a portfolio spanning Lady Gaga to Nine Inch Nails, Brodie Kaman adapts his style to reflect Jensen Interceptor’s evolving sound

Australian producer Jensen Interceptor, real name Mikey Melas, is set to release his second full-length album “Interception” on September 11 via his International Chrome label, featuring cover artwork by Brodie Kaman.

Known for his arresting, fluid abstractions, Brodie Kaman brings a deeply personal touch to “Interception”s cover art. The work captures a moment of rupture and recovery; a visual metaphor for Melas’s own transformative year marked by a serious foot injury and the creative introspection that followed. Echoing oil spills under a microscope, Kaman’s composition blends vivid pastel hues with brooding undercurrents, evoking a sense of turbulence settling into new forms.

Brodie Kaman presents a layered composition of fluid forms and muted yet contrasting colours, with coral pinks, acid yellows and dark greens blending across the surface in organic motion. Its visual language recalls the textures of chemical reactions or biological slides, suggesting a quiet tension between chaos and control. With fine lines resembling fractures and gradients that evoke bruised surfaces, the piece sits comfortably within Kaman’s ongoing exploration of abstraction as a tool for emotional resonance. Rather than aiming for clarity, it offers a contemplative surface; one that complements the introspective and genre-blurring themes of Jensen Interceptor’s Interception album without overpowering them.

Brodie Kaman is no stranger to working in high-concept sonic realms. His design fingerprints were recently seen on “Mayhem”, Lady Gaga’s 2024 record, and have previously graced releases by FKA Twigs and Nine Inch Nails. Yet “Interception” signals a more intimate turn. His collaboration with Jensen Interceptor marks a shared departure from the expected, just as the producer expands his electro foundations with footwork, IDM and baile funk, Kaman opts for painterly gestures that defy literal interpretation, favouring emotional resonance over graphic clarity.

Brodie Kaman described the process in an Instagram post, saying: “I’ve always had a penchant for making things with my hands, Mikey gave me free rein across the visuals which is rare, and I think we struck upon something that resonates with the album perfectly. Thanks for having me Mikey, love you and congratulations on this incredible collection of tracks.”

In a release statement, Jensen Interceptor noted: “Since I started making music I’ve always made music geared towards use in my DJ sets but there’s always been an urge to explore the deeper side of electronic music. That time off after the accident gave me the space to dive into genres and really experiment. I really wanted to challenge and, I guess, prove myself in other spheres, to take my music to a new place. I’ve never wanted to be too repetitive and found that expectations, imagined or real, were forcing me to get stuck on a specific sound both in my productions and DJ sets.”
