Geneva-born collaboration between Owelle and visual arts duo Structurals brings immersive Captures performance to Cardiff

Echoes of Archs are set to present Captures at CULTVR in Cardiff on April 17, an immersive audiovisual performance built from LiDAR-scanned architecture, generative environments and field-recorded soundscapes.

The project unfolds as a shifting landscape of point clouds and recomposed structures, where spatial scales stretch and collapse, and the boundaries between physical and imagined environments begin to blur. Within this fluid terrain, sound and image are controlled in real time, continuously reshaping one another through responsive textures, movements and sonic detail, altering the perception of space and the relationships between objects and their extensions.

Geneva-born collaboration Echoes of Archs brings together electronic producer Owelle and visual arts duo Structurals. Their joint practice merges immersive sound design with geometry-driven, architecture-inspired visuals, resulting in performances that operate across both spatial and sensory dimensions. Atmospheric electronic rhythms intersect with dynamic digital structures, forming a cohesive audiovisual language that unfolds within speculative architectural environments.

The upcoming presentation is scheduled with doors opening at 19:30, followed by a 30–35 minute performance beginning at 20:30, and will conclude with a Q&A session with the artists.

Founded in 2019, CULTVR has established itself as a pioneering digital arts centre in Cardiff, recognised as Europe’s first cross-disciplinary lab dedicated to digital arts, live immersive performance and XR experiences. The venue provides both physical and virtual infrastructure, positioning itself as a platform for research and development, creation and presentation, while contributing to broader access to digital tools and immersive art practices.

Ahead of the show, Structurals shared insight into the development process via Instagram, stating: "We spent the last weeks on TouchDesigner optimizing and improving the system & building new parts specially for the dome version, with new scans, recordings, and even an improvised Yukulele live show from Owelle - you’re not ready for this. Stay tuned, and bring your sunglasses!"
