HAAi: “It’s rare to find a synth that can carry every element of a track without becoming muddied or dull, but Absynth felt endlessly open”

London-based digital artist Weirdcore has teamed up with HAAi for Native Instruments’ long-running software synthesiser Absynth, now unveiled in its newly released sixth version.

To mark the instrument’s “Weird by Design” ethos, Native Instruments has brought together a group of forward-thinking producers to create original music made exclusively with Absynth, accompanied by bespoke visualisers designed by Weirdcore for each piece.

HAAi’s newly revealed improvised track, produced entirely using Absynth 6, expands on the euphoric stillness she explored on her recent album HUMANiSE, while underlining the synth’s reputation for expansive and exploratory sound design.

The resulting tracks, all written on Absynth and paired with custom visuals by Weirdcore, will be shared through Native Instruments’ Instagram and YouTube channels.

Reflecting on the collaboration in an Instagram post, HAAi said: “For this piece, I wanted to lean into the synth as much as possible, building a layered, textural atmosphere and letting the sounds speak to one another. I was drawn to exploring how far I could push it while still holding onto a sense of calmness. It’s rare to find a synth that can carry every element of a track without becoming muddied or dull, but Absynth felt endlessly open. I saved so many patches along the way and still feel like I only scratched the surface of what’s possible.”

Nadine Raihani, Director of Product Design at Native Instruments, added: “Absynth has always been about altered perception, a way of stepping into sound and seeing differently. HAAi’s beautiful interpretation exists inside the world of Absynth, with Weirdcore’s visuals giving that world a form that’s uncanny, immersive, and emotionally charged. Bringing Absynth back was about preserving its surreal legacy while opening new doors for artists today.”

Another audiovisual collaboration was also revealed a day ahead of Absynth 6’s release, with an Instagram reel pairing visuals by Weirdcore once again with music by SWARMM.
