Accompanied by artwork from LudoWic himself, 'STILL' continues the artist's exploration of sound, image and spatial perception

Dutch multidisciplinary artist, musician and composer LudoWic has unveiled his latest single, 'STILL', the first offering from his forthcoming album 'NUNC STANS', due for release on September 10.

'NUNC STANS' was written during a four-month period of near-total isolation in LudoWic's studio, where the artist became increasingly drawn to the Latin notion of an eternal present in which past, present and future coexist. Rather than serving as a rigid conceptual framework, the idea emerged as a recurring emotional thread throughout the record, inspired by fleeting moments that seem to momentarily suspend time. Reflecting that sensibility, LudoWic introduced 'STILL' with the words: "Between motion and memory there is STILL."

The release follows LudoWic's four-track 2026 EP 'Memories of a Silent Movie' and the standalone single 'PETRICHOR (trautonium only)', continuing the artist's exploration of experimental electronics, spatial sound and visual expression.

The single arrives alongside artwork created by LudoWic himself, with artwork photography by Timo Reisiger and graphic design by Nourdin Kouch. Conceived as an extension of the music rather than a separate visual identity, the accompanying artwork reflects the artist's multidisciplinary practice, where sound and image are developed as parallel forms of expression.

Born in Venlo and raised in Dongen, Matheus Lodewijk grew up in an environment where music and visual expression naturally coexisted. After being accepted into both art school and the conservatory, he ultimately chose to study at Codarts Conservatory in Rotterdam, while continuing to cultivate a visual arts practice that remains deeply embedded in his creative process. Working under the moniker LudoWic, he has developed a distinctive sonic language built around ageing synthesizers, tape machines, resonator speakers and forgotten electronic instruments, embracing their imperfections as integral elements of composition. Rather than treating sound as something purely musical, his work approaches it as a tactile, sculptural and spatial medium.

Alongside his solo catalogue, LudoWic has written and produced music for artists including Wende, Sevdaliza and Santan Dave, while also composing the score for the acclaimed indie video game 'Katana ZERO'. International recognition expanded with the release of 'SUPER8 MEMORY' in 2024, centred around the Trautonium—one of the earliest electronic instruments ever created—before continuing with 'HORIZONTAL FALL' in 2025, which broadened his sonic palette through organs, the Ondes Martenot and vintage synthesizers while exploring the sensation of endless falling as a metaphor for surrender.

'STILL' is out now on all major digital platforms, while 'NUNC STANS' is available to pre-order digitally and on vinyl. Check it out here.
