The new concept officially launches today
Ministry of Sound has unveiled a sweeping transformation of its VIP space, marking the club’s most ambitious interior renovation in over a decade.
Gone are the traditional trappings of velvet ropes and exclusivity. In their place comes No Velvet Rope Society, a reimagined, community-forward concept that bridges underground grit with high-spec design, and invites music lovers into an elevated yet inclusive sonic experience.
With a £500,000 investment, the refurbishment represents a new era for the legendary London venue. Accessible through a back alley entrance, a deliberate homage to the capital’s 1990s rave heyday, No Velvet Rope Society merges the spirit of illegal warehouse parties with the sophistication of a modern speakeasy. At its heart is a sleek mezzanine structure that offers unobstructed views into The Box, Ministry’s iconic main room, renowned for its world-class sound system.
“This VIP refurb has been a dream of mine since I joined Ministry of Sound 10 years ago,” said Caitlin McAllister, Group Managing Director at Ministry of Sound. “From the start, I knew that opening up this space to the Box would be a total game changer — not just for our guests, but for the artists too. It’s been a real passion project, and we’ve poured everything into creating something that feels bold, immersive, and electric. This isn’t just a facelift — it’s about levelling up the entire experience and bringing people even closer to the music and the energy that makes this place iconic.”
Far from being another VIP facelift, No Velvet Rope Society signals a cultural shift. It repositions the VIP concept not as a status symbol but as a state of mind, one that celebrates music communities, loyalty, and shared energy on the dancefloor. “No Velvet Rope” is both an ethos and an aesthetic: raw, immersive, and unapologetically nostalgic, but tailored for the next generation of club culture citizens.
A limited number of founding memberships are available for £150 annually, offering members queue jump, exclusive access to all events (excluding student-only nights), birthday Moët for table bookings, 15% off initial table spend, and early access to future reservations.
Following a soft launch during Ministry’s Disco Daddy night on June 28, the newly renovated VIP officially launches today, July 10.
