The ground floor venue at MADE Bush Terminal will host live music art installations and public events year round
The creative studio arm of Brooklyn community hub public records, known as Public Service, has revealed a new partnership with the non-profit New York City Economic Development Corporation to launch a dedicated events venue on the Brooklyn waterfront, with architecture led by nArchitects.
Spanning 10,000 square feet with a capacity of up to 1,000 people, the ground-floor venue will be located within MADE Bush Terminal in Sunset Park. Its year-round programme will encompass live music, large-scale art installations, and a mix of public and private events, with curatorial direction shaped to reflect the diversity and creative energy of the Sunset Park community.
On the design side, the project brings together a specialist team including acoustics consultancy Arup, speaker and sound system designers NNNN and Ojas, and lighting designer Ben Kreukniet.
“With the team behind public records, we are building on this momentum through a new dynamic music and arts venue that truly exemplifies MADE’s role in New York City’s future cultural landscape—a place where world-class design and local entrepreneurship come together to revitalize Sunset Park’s industrial waterfront and create a thriving ecosystem for creativity, innovation, and growth,” said NYCEDC president and CEO Andrew Kimball in a statement.
In a post shared on Instagram, Public Service added: “Spearheaded by public records founders Shane Davis and Francis Harris, Public Service is particularly inspired by opportunities to re-envision and re-enliven historic spaces through design, hospitality, and artistic curation. To do so in concert with a project dedicated to supporting the greater arts and production community in New York aligns with our organization’s interests and aspirations.”
The new venue is slated to open later this year.
