Photographer Rafael Deprost was rudely removed by security during Keinemusik’s July 13 show at Domaine national de Saint-Cloud

Videos showing respected event photographer Rafael Deprost being forcefully removed by security guards at a recent event in Paris have circulated widely across social media, prompting concern and reflection within the music and arts community. In response to the incident, Deprost has issued a public statement addressing the incident and the personal toll it has taken on him.

In a public post shared three days after the event, which took place at Domaine national de Saint-Cloud on July 13, Deprost described the incident and its aftermath, stating: “Three days ago, I was forcefully removed from an event by a security guard while simply doing my job in Paris.”

Footage of the altercation has since circulated widely across social media platforms, prompting a wave of public reaction. In his statement, Deprost acknowledged the support he has received in recent days: “The video of the incident has now been shared everywhere. I’ve received thousands of messages, full of support and kindness. I can’t respond to everyone, but please know that I’m deeply moved and grateful.”

He took a clear stance against the use of physical force, noting that the emotional and physical toll of the experience prompted him to temporarily withdraw from communication: “Though I appreciate the concern behind people sharing it, I’ve had to step back and turn my phone off. Physically, I’m still healing. Mentally, I’m still processing something that no working professional or human being should have to experience.”

His post avoids assigning blame, emphasising instead a desire for resolution and a broader reflection on safety in professional environments:

“I’m not here to point fingers or start a drama, just to say: I’d really like to move forward. If you’ve been sending me the video, please understand that I don’t need to see it again. This post isn’t about vengeance. It’s about saying: this kind of violence should never happen.”

He also clarified that the Berlin-based collective Keinemusik, who were performing at the event, were not involved in the incident: “Keinemusik had absolutely nothing to do with what happened and I appreciate the support they’ve shown me.”

He concluded with a reaffirmation of his values in the face of adversity: “I believe in peace and even in this dark moment, I still do.”

None of the other parties involved in the event, including promoters H A ï K U, AEG Presents France, and venue representatives at Domaine national de Saint‑Cloud, have issued a public statement at this time. Groove Atelier will continue to follow any developments surrounding this matter with care and attention. While the full context remains to be addressed by those responsible, the violent removal of a working professional in the middle of his work is unacceptable. Regardless of circumstance, physical force should never be the response to a creative professional doing their job.
