Wire Festival has announced an open call for light-based installations to be presented during its 2026 edition, taking place from 14-17 May in New York. Welcoming tens of thousands of guests each year, the festival is seeking innovative proposals that create moments of pause, reflection and sensory renewal within the wider festival environment. Previous editions have showcased acclaimed work by Lumus Instruments, Collectif Scale, Inner Light NYC and others, establishing Wire as a platform where technology, spatial design and electronic sound converge.
The curatorial team emphasises that successful installations often operate as interstitial spaces—immersive encounters that offer festival-goers a chance to recalibrate. Works should be light-centred, tech-forward, and capable of functioning both in low light and daylight conditions, while maintaining a dialogue with sonic spill from neighbouring stages and rooms. Importantly, playfulness remains a guiding principle; installations that encourage intuitive interaction tend to resonate strongly with Wire’s diverse audience.
Founded in 2022, Wire Festival has quickly become one of the most anticipated annual gatherings for electronic-music culture and multimedia art, with its upcoming 2026 event marking the festival’s 5th edition. Drawing international crowds to its hybrid indoor-outdoor setting, the festival has distinguished itself through its commitment to large-scale scenography, cutting-edge visual commissions and cross-disciplinary collaborations.
Artists and studios wishing to submit proposals should prepare a single PDF of no more than five pages, including:
- A one-paragraph description of the proposed installation
- At least two visual representations
- A short artist biography and links to previous work
- A budget inclusive of all costs and fees
- A practical production timeline, covering installation and strike
Proposals must be sent no later than 23 December 2025, with selected projects to be confirmed by the end of January 2026.
