‘The Alien’s World’ will be exhibited from 11 September to 10 October, featuring adjustable tweeters designed for both seated and standing listening
Designer, engineer and DJ David Chen has created 'The Alien’s World', a compact mono bookshelf speaker designed in response to the spatial constraints of his small, narrow studio.
His future objects studio combines engineering expertise with a future-focused design aesthetic, spanning objects across a range of forms and scales.
The speaker features two articulating tweeters that can be adjusted according to the listener’s position. The configuration is intended to direct higher frequencies more effectively whether listening while sitting or standing.
Measuring 305mm in length, 466mm in width and 748mm in height, 'The Alien’s World' combines its compact format with a distinctive adjustable upper section, making the movement of the tweeters part of both its functional and visual design.
Chen designed and constructed the speaker for an upcoming Design Everything exhibition at Aram Gallery in London. The exhibition is set to run from 11 September to 10 October.
The project places the listening environment at the centre of the design, responding to a specific architectural limitation through an adaptable approach to sound reproduction.
