French electronic music pioneer Jean-Michel Jarre has announced his first book.
Set for release on 24 November via US publisher Thames & Hudson, Machines: A History of Electronic Music explores the evolution of electronic music through rare photography and contributions from leading figures including Armin van Buuren, Hans Zimmer, Duran Duran's Nick Rhodes, New Order's Gillian Gilbert, Johnny Marr, Vince Clarke, Benjamin John Power and more.
The 368-page hardcover book traces the genre's story from Luigi Russolo's 1913 Futurist manifesto The Art of Noises through more than a century of cultural, creative and technological innovation, while also charting Jarre's own career alongside the music's evolution.
