Kafeel Ahmed Ansari brings traditional sign painting to Fred again..'s India tour campaign

Old Delhi sign painter Kafeel Ahmed Ansari has created the official artwork for Fred again..'s debut India tour.

Known as one of the last remaining master sign painters in India, Ansari has spent decades hand-painting cinema hoardings, shopfront signs, portraits and public lettering. Working from his studio near Delhi's Jama Masjid, the veteran artist has dedicated his career to preserving a craft that has steadily declined since the rise of digital printing, while continuing to champion the visual language of traditional Indian street culture.

Created entirely with acrylic on canvas, the poster centres on Fred again..'s signature "again" moniker, rendered in Hindi, Marathi and Kannada. Floral motifs, ornamental scrollwork and hand-painted typography draw on the aesthetics of Indian truck art and vernacular sign painting, reinterpreting a longstanding visual tradition for one of electronic music's most anticipated live debuts in the country.

The collaboration arrives as Fred again.. prepares to perform his first shows in India this December, with dates scheduled in Delhi NCR, Mumbai and Bengaluru. The announcement campaign attracted widespread attention after multilingual newspaper advertisements appeared across the three cities before the tour was officially confirmed, with Ansari's artwork quickly becoming one of its defining visual elements.

By placing hand-painted craftsmanship at the centre of a major international tour campaign, the project also draws renewed attention to a rapidly disappearing artistic practice.
