“This new hub will bring together underground culture, emerging voices, and more renowned artists to collaborate, experiment, and reimagine the future”
London’s experimental arts and music venue IKLECTIK has confirmed that it will reopen in Peckham Levels, redeploying its programme after a turbulent two-year period of displacement.
In a post shared on Instagram, IKLECTIK announced that beginning October 2025 it will occupy the gig space at Peckham Levels on Rye Lane for a 13-month residency. The launch event is scheduled for Sunday, October 26, running from 5pm to 10pm, with entry free of charge, with RSVPs accepted via info@iklectikartlab.com.
From Eviction to Itinerant Mode
IKLECTIK’s former home was at Old Paradise Yard in Waterloo, a shared creative community hub. In November 2023, the organisation was issued an eviction notice following refusal to renew its lease, with final operations ceasing in January 2024. The redevelopment plan called for demolition of the site and the construction of five office towers, prompting criticism that small creative enterprises had been collectively displaced in favour of office development.
The campaign to save IKLECTIK mobilised public support: petitions collected tens of thousands of signatures, and appeals were made to the Secretary of State to consider a public inquiry. Nonetheless, the lease was not renewed and the eviction proceeded.
During its hiatus, IKLECTIK did not remain dormant. The organisation pivoted to a nomadic mode of operation, programming 32 events across 13 cities in 8 countries and supporting nearly 200 artists. This resilience allowed them to maintain visibility, relationships, and momentum in the experimental music and performance sphere.
Notable artists who have appeared on IKLECTIK programmes include John Butcher, Philip Jeck, Thurston Moore, Puce Mary, Mark Fell, as well as more recent names such as Manuka Honey, GAIKA, Jennifer Walton, Lighght, and upsammy.
A New Chapter in Peckham
IKLECTIK’s new iteration begins in collaboration with The Trampery, the organisation managing Peckham Levels. Peckham Levels is a mixed-use cultural and community complex in South London, hosting studios, events, workspaces, and social enterprises. In joining this site, IKLECTIK will embed itself in a more public-facing, accessible locale compared to its previous tucked-away Waterloo setting.
Under the terms of the announced residency, IKLECTIK will have capacity to host audiences of up to 450 people in the gig space. The team also disclosed a new leadership appointment: Dyana Gravina joins as Co-Director & Curator alongside founder Eduard Solaz, bringing her experience in care-centred curatorial practice and collaborative infrastructure building.
Their statement underscores a renewed mission: “At a time when grassroots venues are being cut, closed, and pushed to the margins, we remain committed to creating a place for counterculture, risk-taking, and radical imagination. This new hub will bring together underground culture, emerging voices, and more renowned artists to collaborate, experiment, and reimagine the future.”
