The club’s main room, The Box, returns on January 30 and 31 featuring &friends, Moeaike, Lauren Lo Sung, Pete Tong b2b Kölsch and Joezi
Ministry of Sound has unveiled plans for a major renovation ahead of its 35th anniversary, marking the venue’s most extensive overhaul since opening its doors in 1991.
As part of the works, the club’s main room, The Box, will be closed until January 30. The long-running Martin Audio sound system will be removed and replaced with a custom-built four-point setup from KV2, featuring SL412 tops alongside VHD2.21 and VHD2.16 subwoofers.
The refurbishment will also see The Box’s DJ booth redesigned. Under the new layout, the booth will be lowered into the crowd to allow for more dynamic stage configurations, including 360-degree DJ performances. An elevated backstage area is also being introduced, with capacity for up to 200 people.
The room is set to reopen with shows on January 30 and 31, featuring performances from &friends, Moeaike, Lauren Lo Sung, Pete Tong b2b Kölsch, Joezi and more. Alongside the reopening dates, the club has also shared its full Q1 programme for 2026. While The Box will remain closed until the end of January, Ministry of Sound’s anniversary celebrations are already underway, having launched last Friday.
Speaking about the project to Time Out London, the club’s director Matt Long said: ‘The redesign will fully transform the room into a future-facing club space while preserving its industrial spirit. The Box has always set benchmarks, particularly around sound, and this renovation allows us to reset that standard for the next generation to continue evolving the space without losing its identity.’
