TRAUM Club hosts the opening party for ‘These Branching Moments’ exhibition on June 27
FOMU in Antwerp will present 'These Branching Moments' from 28 June to 28 September, a group exhibition that examines how the night becomes a site for experimentation, collectivity, and resistance. Curated by Evelyn Simons, with scenography by Espace Aygo and graphic design by Atelier Brenda, the exhibition features works by Amari, Tosh Basco, Juliana Huxtable, Jim C. Nedd, Rebecca Salvadori and Kajol Singh.
Bringing together a range of voices from across performance, music, and moving image, the exhibition foregrounds the ways in which nocturnal spaces can accommodate complexity and ambiguity. “The exhibition finds refuge in the night as a space for experimentation, freedom, and imagination, with the artists resisting a world that increasingly imposes control,” states the curatorial text.
“They do this by creating elusive, ever-changing moments where complexity and mystery are allowed to exist. Featuring contributions from diverse communities – from experimental electronic musicians and queer strippers of colour to performance artists and Caribbean youth at mass gatherings – the exhibition reveals how like-mindedness, freedom, and solidarity can be found in the shadow zones of normative society.”
To mark the launch of the exhibition, a dedicated opening party will take place on June 27 at TRAUM Club in Antwerp. Organised in collaboration with FOMU, the event will be shaped by Amari and his Unlimited Strip Club Collective, who will transform the club into a space of boundary-pushing performance and music.
The night’s programme includes DJ sets from Yung Singh, Amari & Sydfalls, Coby Sey B2B Kenichi Iwasa, and DC Noises. Live performances curated by Unlimited Strip Club will feature Sydfalls, AMARISKINGDOM, and Blood Drinker (Michelle Tshibola).
Taking place ahead of the exhibition’s official opening, the event at TRAUM bridges the institutional and the informal, inviting audiences to experience the themes of These Branching Moments in an embodied, communal setting.
Tickets for the opening party are available on this page, and exhibition details can be found here.
